Itinerary

Day 1
Thursday – Depart USA for Istanbul, Turkey
Overnight flight to Istanbul, Turkey.
Day 2
Friday – Istanbul
Upon arrival, you will be met at airport and assisted with arrival procedures and transfer to hotel. Enjoy the rest of the day at your own leisure. Overnight in Istanbul.
Day 3
Saturday – Istanbul
After breakfast at the hotel, enjoy a guided tour to Topkapi Palace – royal residence of the Ottoman Sultans from 1465-1856- followed by visits to St. Sophia (Hagia Sophia), the greatest church in ancient Byzantium and the Blue Mosque, built 1609 and known for the blue tiles adorning the interior walls and for six minarets that tower over the skyline. We end our day enjoying the sights, sounds, aromas of the Grand Bazaar-one of the largest and oldest covered markets in the world! Overnight in Istanbul. (B)
Day 4
Sunday – Cappadocia
After breakfast, we depart for Ankara where we will visit the Museum and Mausoleum of Ataturk -burial place of the national hero who founded the modern Republic of Turkey. We then depart for Cappadocia enjoying the picturesque trip along the Salt Lake. Optional night tour with a Turkish show is avaliable tonight. Overnight in Cappadocia. (BD)
Day 5
Monday – Cappadocia
Early in the morning an optional Balloon tour is available to experience this miraculous natural wonder of wind and water that created “fairy chimneys”, rocky pinnacles, cones and spires of pinks and russet-brown! Our full day excursion in Cappadocia includes visits to the Kaymakli Underground City, Open Air Museum in Goreme and the natural fortress in Uchisar. Here, we will have the opportunity to discover and understand the rich history behind local handicrafts like hand-made carpets, Turkish tiles, onyx and potteries. Overnight in Cappadocia (B).
Day 6
Tuesday, Pamukkale
Early morning departure for Pamukkale (“cotton castle”) stopping to visit the 13th century Seljukian masterpiece, Sultanhan Caravanserai, before arrival in Konya. After visiting the Mausoleum of Mevlana, the world famous mystic figure of the “whirling dervishes” we continue our drive to Pamukkale for an overnight stay (BD).
Day 7
Wednesday – Pamkkale, Kusadasi
In the morning , we enjoy a visit to the ancient Greco-Roman city of Hierapolis which sat on top of hot springs. We will walk among the magnificent ruins of the Necropolis, Theater, and the amazing cascade of lime “waterfalls”. We continue our drive to Selcuk to visit Temple of Artemis ‘‘one of the seven wonders of the ancient world “ then continue to Kusadasi for overnight (BD).
Day 8
Thursday – Kusadasi / Ephesus
This morning we take a short drive to visit the magnificent and extensive ruins of Ephesus- famed for the Temple of Artemis, the Letter to the Ephesians that St. Paul wrote, and as one of the seven churches of Asia cited in the Book of Revelation. We continue to Virgin Mary’s House. In the afternoon, experıence and participate in an upbeat fashion show showcasıng the unique leather products manufactured ın Turkey. Overnight stay in Kusadasi. (BD)
Day 9
Friday – Canakkale/Troy
An early departure for Bergama site of the well preserved ruins of including the Acropolis, this ancient city’s acclaimed library, and famous for the Alter of Zeus. We then drive to legendary Troy- center of ancient civilizations and the site where the legendary Trojan War took place. Drive to Canakkale for an overnight stay. (B,D)
Day 10
Saturday – Istanbul
After breakfast at the hotel we will cross the Dardanelles and continue to Gallipoli – significant as the landing & battle with the Allies in WWI- and visit Anzac Cove, Nek, Chunuk Bair, Lone Pine and 57th Regiment Memorial and War Museum. Arrival in Istanbul for an overnight stay. (B)
Day 11
Sunday – Return to the USA
After breakfast transfer to the airport (Ataturk airport ). (B)
